For producers in the compost-processing/recycling industry, we offer the following:
When it comes to choosing equipment to make top-quality compost, our "manufacturer of choice" for compost windrow turners is Frontier Industrial Corporation, Oregon, USA.. See our list of reference installations. They have a comprehensive range of robust compost windrow-turners:
Turborator Paddle Drum - U.S.Patent 5,586,731:
This patented technology is the working heart of the Frontier. The drum and paddle design is robust, abrasion-resistant and impervious to rocks and other debris. The Turborater aerates the windrow material as it mixes - left to right - right to left - top to bottom - bottom to top and inside out. Not only does this produce particle-size-reduction without pulverizing, but it creates two CO2 purging circulating airflows, (15 cu.ft. of air for every 1 cu.ft. of material.) The combination of airflow and physical throw of the paddles shape the compost windrow into its optimum shape and porosity.
The resulting OXYGENATION and MIXING, yields extreme microbial population growth, producing rapid odor-free composting. 100% mixing/100% aeration + 0% compacting = odor control.
Self-Trailing - U.S. Patent 5,586,731:
The only compact, self-trailering unit available, you'll spend more time on the job because it is easily moved from site to site. With no special permits required, you'll move from highway to full production in minutes.
Clear-View Cab:
Another "Frontier first" — only Frontier provides an operator's cab that moves forward to provide a clear view to the front and each side, allowing unsurpassed visibility for accurate driver-control in any situation.
Four-Wheel Drive: Getting stuck is hard on equipment, frustrating for operators and loses valuable production time. Only Frontier provides positive four-wheel drive at the touch of a button.
Load Transfer Frame: Frame strength and design integrity that is unequaled in the industry. The main frame's 4" x 12" steel tube is configured like a bridge, transferring loads over the entire structure during self-trailing.
Odor Control: Odors develop as a result of poorly turned and aerated compost material. Only the Frontier completely turns and aerates all the material in one pass. Why else would you want a turner? For the science behind composting?, click here.
Frontier's line of self-propelled windrow turners come equipped with air-conditioned cabs and hydraulic planetary wheel drives with built-in brakes. The drum is belt-driven which is reliable, efficient and provides for minimal maintenance for the long life of the machine. It has an "auto-tensioning" belt adjusting system. Frontier compost windrow turners are available with various options (variable HP, row-widths from 12 ft to 22 ft., 4x4 option, variable throughput, self-propelled or tow-behind, optional watering system). For model numbers and option chart, click here, then contact us for literature and a quote - with base prices from $12,950 to $290,000 Frontier has just the right model for you, at just the right price. Your benefit from owning a Frontier will continues for many years. They are rugged, strong and simple, to allow easy and low-cost maintenance. As a leader in the large-scale composting industry, Frontier's patented and proven technology is now available to Egg and Poultry Farms for chicken manure and mortality management. The aerobic composting created by the Vanguard uses the highly active microbial action to achieve the following benefits:
- Create an environment that is hostile to insects and rodents
- The heat produced in the row has proven to signficantly reduce pathogens
- With proper managaement, nitrogen is fixed in the materials and very little is lost to the atmosphere in the form of ammonia
- The activity created by Vanguard, along with proper management can completely compost mortalities safely and cleanly
Vanguard offers the following pecifications:
Tunnel width: 6ft 8 inches
Overall width: 8ft 6 inches (includes right and left front scrapers)
Engine: 54HP, Isuzu 4LF1
Drum drive: 4-wheel drive skid-steer with automatic traction lock
Cab: Open roof
Fuel (Diesel): 20 gallons
Hydraulic Oil: 16 gallons
Speed: 50 ft per minute max. in row

Your compost site represents a considerable investment— windrows need to be protected from the elements.
You know how useful if would be to have a roof over your compost site. Now there's a cover that can be easily put on and removed as needed, is practically indestructible, and can pay for itself in less than a year&mdash'it's hard to imagine something this good, costs so little!
 |
- Sheds rainwater as well as a roof
- Is completely permeable to oxygen and carbon dioxide
- Prevents saturated piles and associated leachate
- Minimizes costs for screening and transportation
|
In dry climates or drought conditions:
 |
- Reduces evaporation due to sun and wind
- Eliminates dust emissions
